Welcome in beautiful North-Portugal.
The projects of Portugal Comfort Living are all situated near the small village of Canedo de Basto.
Because of the pleasant micro-climate, the right altitude above sealevel – with less chance of morning fog or low hanging clouds all day long – and plenty of options to go out and about (nature, culture, dining, hiking, cycling, sports activities and more).
Fly • Drive
If you arrive by plane, it is best to land at Porto airport (Aeroporto Francisco Sá Carneiro). Here you will find all car rental companies within a few minutes walking distance (shuttle service available). Tip: Always rent a car with a toll badge because toll roads in Portugal are of very good quality, quiet and the toll costs are relatively low.
The fastest way from the airport is to take the A3 and A7 motorways (toll road). In 50 to 55 minutes you can drive up to your new home.
On the A7, take exit 12 (N210), pass the toll station and at the first roundabout continue on the N210 in a southerly direction (direction Mondim de Basto). Approximately 10 minutes later you are at your destination.
Within a 20 to 40 minute drive you can visit cities such as Braga, Fafe and Guimaraes with many interesting cultural and historical sites. But also smaller towns like Amarante or Mondim de Basto are nice to go to.
Cycling and hiking
Right next to the “Comfort Bungalows” project, a beautiful cycle path of 42 km has been built on a former railway line (Ecopista – Linha do Tâmega). A gently sloping cycle path along beautiful places such as the former station buildings. It is just a short walk from your home to the former railway station of Canedo de Basto where you will find a tavern nearby for a hearty lunch .
Shops can be found in Arco de Baulhe (8 km) and in Cabeceiras de Basto (12 km). There is also an extensive commodity market here every week. Within walking distance from home you will also find many fruit and vegetable sales for very reasonable prices. Bread and fish can be delivered at your doorstep.
Sports and activities
Just 15 minutes away you find Pena Aventura Park. The Park offers lively activities and adventure sports and is located in Ribeira de Pena. E-bike tours, via ferrata, canyoning, a breathtaking zip-line slide, adventure tree courses and rafting are just a few possiblities. Do you like to play golf or tennis? You will find plenty of options in the vicinity.
Portuguese families usually gather every Sunday at the river beaches that are present in many places to eat together, play a game or swim in the river. Keep an eye out for the ‘praia fluvial’ signs along the road and you’ll be surprised at how many places you see them.
Mountains of North-Portugal
Your house is located just between two magnificent parks with great scenic beauty, waterfalls, vistas and relaxing nature. To the south there is Alvão Natural Park. A protected area of great beauty. To the north you will find, between the Alto Minho and Trás-os-Montes, the Serra da Peneda and Serra do Gerês mountains. Together they form a unique protected area in Portugal, recognized as a National Park.
